One thing I don't understand about HTML lists

Ok, I make a list like this:

1. First
2. Second
3. Third

Now I try to copy this from the browser to insert it somewhere else. Result: The numbers are missing (1. 2. 3.) only the text is present (First Second Third).

This isn't right, right?
